Hi, I just acquired a sublimated spidey suit minus the 3d webbing and I was going to apply liquid latex webs. I know I should probably stretch the suit and mask before applying it. Is stuffing it with pillow "fluff" acceptable or should I get a mannequin head for the mask? I saw this site and thought I could get the best advice here thanks! ;D

Why would you need to stretch it if you're using latex? Latex has plenty of stretch in it. You really only need to stretch it if you're using acrylic fabric paint or the dye-sub print is very small and needs to stretch a lot to fit you. But i'd just lie it flat...if its not sewn and apply the latex or put it on a maniquin if it is sewn. ;D

well it is pre-sewn, the person i bought it from recommended stuffing the arms and body before putting the latex liquid on..which is odd. i don't have a mannequin head sadly, but i'll try out stuffing the head if necessary. it sure would be easier to just lay the suit flat

I have a question too, and hopefully someone can answer it. What's the web made out of, and any tips on how to scuplt and mold it? I search for urethane but there's so many types I can't find what to use, or have any idea on how to color it. Hope someone can shed some light, because I'm stupped and Halloween is comming soon Thanks for reading, hope someone can help me out

Webbing is cast in a mold. The Urethane is black, but most guys powder coat or tint it silver. Its a two part compound and sets to varying hardnesses. You need a hardness of Shore 30 for a nice flexible set of webs. Only problem is making the molds. Only a few guys have a good clean set of molds. And the molds are also different sizes. One size really doesnt fit all.

Thank you, that should help a lot. I was considering sulpting some webs and making a latex mold or something for the webs, but I don't know how well that would work out.
Oh and, forgive my ignorance, but what is powder coating? Lining the mold with powder or heating up powder or something?

Oh, and, another question...are there grades or different types of Shore 30 Urethane? Just asking because I managed to find some site selling some and they called it 30A Urethane, but they seemed to be using it for molding or whatnot.
Just not sure if I'm going to the right site or not to get it. Thanks again...sorry; I'm a little over-zealous perhaps. Hope it's not a bother.
