Those body kits are selling for no less than $12k for the '89s, and $6,500 for the '66. 2 suits probably won't entice too many builders! BUT, when I am done sculpting the buck for my '89, maybe I could pull a fiberglass body. Actually, RJ (sg1star on many boards) is probably going to be done before me.

Superman or Ollie or anyone else who has had a Dye - Sub done. I'm about to order some material (Lyrca) of some sort. I've got samples from Spandex house but Miliskin is made of Nylon / Lyrca which I'm told will not stand the heating process of a dye - sub. Can anyone tell me what type of material you used?
Thanks ;D

Hey buddy, the used cotton lycra. Miliskin can stand the heat pressure from what I was told by SH. Go ask your printers first to be safe.

It was my understanding that becuase cotton is a natural fabric it makes it extremely difficult/near impossible to use Dye Sub on. I thought I remembered hearing that they used a nylon/lycra blend. But I could be wrong.

You can only dye sub on natural cotton if it is treated with some other porous chemical. Otherwise it cannot trap the dye gases.

Hello Guys,
I have the spidey pattern dye-subliminated on to lycra, but when I stretch the lycra, the color seems to "wash out" Also the lycra seems a lilttle too "see thu" when stretched for my taste.
How does one avoid the "wash out" problem, and are there better materials that will not be see thru? DO the movie guys double up on the lycra?
Thanks

There are different weights of lyrca. Try using a heavier material to help cut down on the see through problem. As for the washout.....not sure yet. I'm sending three samples today to be dye-sublimated. I'll tell you how it turns out and a week or so. ;D

According to some reports, the actual movie suit (although it may have just been some of the test suits) was printed on two differently colored fabrics to avoid the "washout." They used a peach color for the red section and paynes grey for the blue sections. Maybe someone around these parts would like to be the first person to make a fansuit this way?

Just adding my 2 cents. The movie costumes had the red muscle suit underneath. So they may not have worried about the see through effect.

While the muscle suit for SM1 was a full faom rubber suit with approximate coloring painted on. The one for the sequel was simpler, allowing it to appear more natural, and also was not all-covering. The only thing I can think of is: maybe they put the foam rubber over a red (maybe blue too) spandex suit.

Hey Guys, Here is my sample. The red looks a little orange so I'll make it a llttle darker on the final print. Cheers ;D Oh, yeah. I can recommend the Milliskin. It doesnt wash out as much. You have to stretch it along way b4 the white fibres show through. Polylyrca washes out pretty easy with very little stretch.

Hello John,
Use the weblines as guides... I count the web boxes at the ends and try to match up them up with each piece. (Hope this make sense).
The back is split into 2 pieces, they got some red and blue on them and kinda look like boots...
Actually if you go back to page one on this thread and look at the post by spideyforfun with pic of the whole pattern , the back is the bottom 2 pieces on the second column (right below the arms)..
