I applied tulip paint after the suit was sewn together. The paint will crack and break in time so to make it last as long as possible you need to apply it when the costume is stretched to fit your measurements. ;D

Here's a picture of my test sample. It was cut using a CNC milling process. ;D

Time to start some webbing. I've had no experience with latex so I thought I'd try some latex webs b4 I do the Urethane one. Here's a black latex spot with silver strip. I'll try use a two tone system so the top of the webs are silver and the base is black. So i'll put a thin layer of silver latex in the mold follow by black. Hopefully I'll have some pics to show soon. ;D

Here's my first sample attempt in latex. I'l order some Urethane and give that a try. I made some silver latex to give that a try as the top of the webbing. I've just discovered I dont like cleaning up webbing. I'll be a bit more careful with the Urethane. ;D

looks like a good test, and your mold seems to be working very well. How much does it cost to get molds made, and where would someone get this done>?

Well I guess that all depends on who you know. I had some crazy prices quoted for molds but found a guy (Hi Ben) who was happy to help out. He likes the idea of doing different interesting projects and webbing (lucky for me) fell into that catagory.
Yeah, it seems to be working well. I cast a spider and an arm again as a test in latex to see how it would work.
;D

Spidey4fun, how did the urethane webs turn out? They are OK.., but Im not real happy with my molds. As they were cut into MDF I had to give them a coat of polyurethane which made the surface a little rough. They are OK, but Im trying to make a REALY CLEAN suit. I should have some clean molds cut into plastic by December.

hey... considering my recent ordeal of realizing my suit was too small... whenever attaining another suit of slightly larger size... will the standard size urethane molded webs still work? i would hope so considering mold work... but im also worried stretch might be just a little too much?

And here's the urethane chest webbing.....not 100% and yet to get the silver top...but a fair sample for a first attempt....Rome wasnt built in day. ;D Fresh out of the mold....not too much to clean up.

The urethane webs look great. how did you attach them to the suit, and do they stretch?

They're not attached yet. Just sitting on top. But ill just use super glue. It dries in about 5 seconds. And they stretch like a rubber band. I made a black set and a grey set...but I think I'd like a darker grey set. Anyone interested in these? Send me an email. Oh yeah, there's some silver paint on the belt of the black webbing....but it rubs off. That's my first spider...made of tulip paint. Only suitable for a larger suit. 5'10" to 6' spidey4fun@hotmail.com

I've tried a number of different methods to get the silver appearance on top on the webs. Painting doesn't work...the paint comes off after a while. So the next method I tried was dusting....dusting the mold with silver..but the dust gets over top and sides of the mold and the whole webs look silver. Next method was mixing the silver into the Urethane as seen in the pic. On the pic below the belt has lots of silver and the arm has less. They're just placed on top of the suit for reference. I think less is better. Im getting a new mold made soon which will have a smoother surface and this will enhance the reflection of light off the top of the webs. Anyone got any thoughts on the subject? www.spidey4fun.ncable.net.au

Hi All.
Im gonna drag up an old subject,
Can anyone give me the dimensions for the webbing, i have a cnc programmer waiting for them so he can make me some molds out of metal just like the proper ones.
I need to know height, width and the angle of the bevel.
If anyone knows, please, please tell me.
I will make these available to anyone if i can get the measurement sorted.
thanks in advance
Rich
