Hi Lar,
All together, I road about 20 miles that day. That was after putting in a long day of dealing with IT problems. Anyway, I don't know if you remember Bo Jackson. He was the first athlete to play two major sports simultaneously and through Nike there was a phrase that came out, "Just Do It!".
If I'm not mistaken, you live near Cupertino, NASA, etc. That's some great country for some riding. In your case, start out with an inexpensive mountain bike, and "Just Do It!".
Many years ago, I lived in SanFranValley in L.A. My buddy and I road about 80 miles round trip to the beach at Santa Barbara, by climbing the Sepulveda Pass. So, when you're ready go from inner SanFran to the COIT tower, down by Fisherman's Wharf and return. ;D

I seem to continously ne a failure to myself. all I seem I got going for me is my walking. I want to have a better feeling of myself and a better attitude with life. Although everytime i turn around my pounds just keep coming back to defeat me. So I'm not sure what I want to do at this point. I am feeling sad for sure. I even told urban by PM that i hope the best AND I GOT THE WORST. Anyway I'm just here and guess I'll be waiting around for the real me to make a exciting return

Apparently some people from this thread were following The Invention Of Life Journal that I had On AOL. Well the first thing I noticed was a serious problem with the journal. I was being more negative with it, then I was trying to being positive with it. The journal was also not really showing that much accomplishment in certain goals. It gave ma a second reason to delete it. The third reason that I deleted it, was I felt I wasn't keeping it up to date enough either for anyone to really follow. I hope to have a new online journal going soon but I'm not sure when or in what form it will be in. Second thing is that I did accomplish one thing in this past week with my walking that I hadn't accomplished in maybe months or years. Something got to my mind, I listen to an online's friends advice and made my walking more efficient. I was hoping to mention my accomplishment on Monday but I fell asleep earlier then I expected for a Monday night. So for the accomplishment, I had 5 out of 7 days efficient in walking. (I can't make the walks more efficient enough on Fridays and Sundays because of work.) (Also a very good idea to have a pedometer to keep track and a journal which I kept offline for this last week) This means that know I'll have to keep up with a five day a week walk or workout schedule now. I was able to do 142,464 steps (only 119,259 steps counts.) Of those steps 93,156 were aerobic (89,513 actually counted.) I did 9 total hours of walking thruout the week from last Monday to this Sunday. (7 of those hours were actually active) I burned off I believe 11,468 calories for the week (Only 9,899 actually were burned in being active for Monday Thru Thursday and Saturday) and did 80.90 miles for the week (with only 67.73 miles counting because I was actually on the move) There I hope is a good explanation of my accomplishment to everyone on the thread. The reason for the subtraction of course is because I didn't feel my Fridays and Sundays should count toward the total because they are not as active as other days. Of course if you have any new ideas on a new journal let me know. Also by the way for anyone who was following it, thanks so very much I wasn't really sure if anyone was following it all. I hope to have something new in a journal coming soon. P.S. --> My weight unfortunately stay stable for the week and I still need serious help with straighting up my act with having a healthier food menu for the whole day.

First of all, I have to say congratulations on getting out there and walking. And look at it this way, if you stayed stable with your weight, it means you didn't gain any. I need to get off my duff and get moving again. I've set some goals for myself between now and December 3. About your menus, I've mentioned this website before, but they've just added a new menu. It's called "Body Clutter". The nutritionist who creates the menus has lost 50 pounds using this one. website address www.savingdinner.comFor a minimal fee ($9.00 for 3 months), they send you a weekly email wtih the recipes and grocery list. This might be the perfect thing for you to get started with.

well for about three weeks Ive been able to keep stable at 332 pounds which is about 4 pounds less then my last three week average at 336 pounds. I'm saying its an okay accomplishment, but perhaps not a big deal. although my new big deal is the creation of an Yahoo group to replace my old aol group. I hope to grow this group grows bigger then my aol journal. I don't think I'm quite out of the this thing we call life

As far as training like Tobey, I'm feeling old at 34 and not much money. Which means that I don't have access to a gym. I haven't really decided my diet strategy yet, spidervegan. I do understand what your say though. I'm doing okay, to everyone else who might be following this thread. I had no access to my online services because my phone lines went screwy around November 7th and I couldn't do the update I wanted. So all I can say is I'm back. Even though I seem to be struggling at a plateau at betwenn 330 and 335 pounds currently. So I still seem to be deailing with some road block, whether it be emotional or physical. At least durning the time I was off the computer, I got my house in better order and it's not so dirty So something to be happy about at this point.

Lar,
I have been wanting to write you this for a long long time. I have read your posts for about the last, mmmmmm....three to four years on the hype I would say. Everything I am about to say is out of respect and I don't want to hurt your feelings, hopefully you'll be tough enough to read it.
Listen man. All I do is hear you talk talk talk about loosing weight. Your progress is nowhere to be found though. Look you're either going to do somthing or you're not. It's time to make a desision here and now while you're reading this. Either put up or shut up. You want to loose weight? Then stop eating so much. And when you do eat make it small servings, and spread them through out the day. Get out and walk man it's not hard. Sure you're tired thats because you're not pysically active enough. Get out there and do it. Do you have a bicycle? Then go ride it. You also don't need a gym membership, not yet anyway. Go to Walmart and by a couple of dumbells and start waking up your muscles. Is it going to be hard? Hell yeah it will. But only YOU can do it. Sitting at the computer isn't burning enough calories for what you need man. Get down rite now and do some push ups. Leave your knees on the ground and do as many as you can. THE NUMBER WILL INCREASE IN TIME. Just do it. Talk is cheap bro and if you really want this bad enough you will start acting. Stop the "oh life is so rough routine" we all have problems, this can't stop you or any of us though. Six months ago I went from drinking three liters of pepsi per DAY to a pure water drinker in a matter of two weeks. So don't sit there and tell me its to hard to stop your current lifestyle and create a new one. Stop the moaning and do it allready.
Why are you still reading???..........Get going NOW. This isn't a joke, it's your life man. Screw wearing a costume, how about earning yourself a few more years in this life.
Now you can either go cry about how bad your life is or you can toughen up and do somthing about it. The choice is yours. I hope you can live with your desision.
Superpower...............The power is yours!!!
P.S. I have a friend about your weight class and I have to give him this talk every now and then also. And when I do it usually works for a while. I hope it has done something for you too.

Well Lars, Maybe it was time to hear that from someone else. I know I spent enough time with you on this subject, and so have some of us others. I say don't mention anything about yourself til you take down 10 lbs of weight off of your body, then we will know your moving in the right direction. Other than that reading your posts are a waste of our time and efforts. I say lets hear from some other guys that are making a change to better their lives mentally, and physically due to the goal of representing their own superhero. www.KnightSeeker.com"When I stand on the mountain and say do it, it gets done. If it don't, then I'll move on it. And that's the last thing on Earth you want me to do."

Lars, Today is the first day of the rest of your life! At age 55.5 i still run up stairs, do not take the elevator, swim, and bike. I can still roller skate on 4 wheels "old school" with the best of them. I instill physical pride in my two young teenage children. While I can not do the things i could do in high school (member of the football team), I do not let age set what I can not do!!!!
Your body is a temple that your soul resides in. It takes three parts to keep you whole. You have to exercise your mind, you have to exercise your body, you have to exercise your spirituality. I suspect you don't believe you can achieve your weight goals. That's your spirituality component. Through Him, All Things Are Possible.
The other 2 components will follow!! Get out a pair of running tights, find a stationary bike, ride for about 5 min, then in 2 day increments, 10 min, 20 min. You'll feel great. Along with the other feedback that you've already read, you will become a super hero inside as well as out. Peace

Have any of the lifters here heard of the muscle now program? It seems to be a good system. I worked it for about three weeks before my holiday hiatus and seen tremendous results. I am about to restart it and see how the next few months go on it. It's a really good program for adding mass and strength. If anyone is interested I could scan the workout schedule and email it to you.
